Google has confirmed the release of its second-generation smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 2, which follows the tech giant's successful debut in the wearables market last year. During its Made by Google keynote, Google revealed impressive details about the new watch. The Pixel Watch 2 sports a redesigned exterior, showcasing circular LEDs to house the sensors and a more streamlined design overall.
One notable feature expected to appeal to users is its improved battery life. Google claims that the Pixel Watch 2 can offer 24 hours of use with a single charge, even when using the always-on display mode. Moreover, it can achieve a full battery recharge in only 12 hours.
The Pixel Watch 2 also introduces Safety Check, a feature first seen on Pixel phones. This allows users to set a timer for their expected return home when out hiking or on similar outdoor activities. In case the user doesn't return as planned, the watch can instantly share their location with predefined emergency contacts or dial 911 for immediate assistance.
While the first Pixel watch had its limitations, such as limited app offerings and subpar integration with Google's own hardware ecosystem, it was overall well-received. As for the Pixel Watch 2, it will retail at $349, with both Wi-Fi and LTE versions available. Preorders have begun, and shipping is planned to commence next week.
In other news, show Ahsoka has been confirmed for a second season, processing tributes after the final scenes of actor Ray Stevenson, who passed away earlier this year. Other segments highlighted on the site included reviews of The Exorcist: Believer, a critique of the sci-fi game The Alters, and commentary on Patrick Stewart's experience with Tom Hardy in Star Trek: Nemesis, and a review of the game Forza Motorsport.
