The newest expansion for Hearthstone, titled "Showdown in the Badlands", was announced at BlizzCon 2023. The game's developer, Blizzard, released the reveal trailer which showcased the classic card battling gameplay in the wild, wild, west of Azeroth. This expansion is set to serve as an origin story for characters Reno Jackson and Elise Starseeker, detailing their journey to save the Badlands from a wicked mining operation. Furthermore, "Showdown in the Badlands" will introduce the first-ever neutral hero card to Hearthstone.
Along with the announcement of the new expansion, Blizzard disclosed the release of Catch-Up Packs. These are a new type of pack that will allow players to expand their collections faster by offering up to 50 cards from the past two years of Hearthstone gameplay. Players will have access to these packs when they log in to Hearthstone and they will be included in pre-purchase bundles for the upcoming expansion. "Showdown in the Badlands" is expected to launch on November 14, 2023.
