"Masters of the Air," the new WW2 drama from the creators of "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific," finally has a launch date and some intriguing first look images. If you're into epic wartime stories, mark your calendar for January 26, 2024 - this is when the series is set to drop on AppleTV+.

What can we expect? Well, the eight images released tell us that Barry Keoghan and Austin Butler are ready to soar as Lt Curtis Biddick and Major Gale Cleven, respectively. They're part of an amazing cast that also includes talents such as Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa.

The drama focuses on tales of camaraderie and courage among American airmen during World War 2 in Europe. The story comes from Donald L. Miller's book, "Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany," a gritty account of the 100th Bombardment Group of the U.S. Army Air Forces in the conflict.

This project has been underway since October 2019 - before Apple TV+ even hit the scene! It's the first series produced by Apple Studios, with Playtone co-producing. Remember that company? It’s the same one that brought us "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific" via HBO.

And if you're wondering, "Wasn't this an HBO idea?"—you're sharp! Originally, it was. Then Apple flew in and cut a deal with the production companies owned by none other than Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. So now, this mini-series will be available exclusively on AppleTV+, along with the upcoming sequel to "Greyhound," although the release date is still unknown.
