The problem, first flagged by a user in the Spider-Man 2 subreddit, indicates that the game's installation halts at 36% after disc insertion. Despite efforts to keep the installation going, such as disconnecting the PS5 from internet, resetting the console, and even trying with a different game disc, users found no resolution. Further discussions emerged in a Resetera thread where users exchanged similar experiences, having unsuccessfully tried reinstalling the game and clearing the system cache multiple times.

nInsomniac Games, the developers, have yet to openly address this issue. They have, however, shared a link to technical support for fans facing difficulties with the game. Few days prior to the release of Spider-Man 2, Insomniac had posted an update suggesting players with physical discs to download patch 1.001.002 on the day of launch for an optimally polished start to the game, discarding the need for a Day 1 patch. IGN attempts to reach out to Insomniac Games for comment on this persistent installation issue have so far remained unanswered.
