iRacing, a top-name in racing simulation games, has announced that it has secured the exclusive rights to develop a simulation-style racing game based on the popular brand NASCAR. The licensing rights used to be with Motorsport Games Inc., but will soon be transferred to iRacing after getting the green light from NASCAR Team Properties.
With these rights in their hands, iRacing will be jump-starting the development of a fresh NASCAR game, aiming to reach gamers around the globe by 2025. An exciting turn of events for those keen on racing games, but the developer that'll bring this game to life is still a mystery.
Tony Gardner, president of iRacing, expressed the team's excitement about this golden opportunity. They promise to pour their passion into developing the NASCAR console game with great care and precision. Their goal is to offer gamers and NASCAR fans a thrilling experience that feels like the real thing.
Before iRacing took the wheel, the last game to feature the NASCAR brand in a simulation-style was NASCAR 21: Ignition, released in 2021. Meanwhile, the most recently launched NASCAR-branded game is NASCAR Arcade Rush. Developed by Team 6 Games Studios and launched just last month, this title does not take on a simulation-style and caters to players on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
The rights to the NASCAR brand were once held by 704Games, known before as Dusenberry Martin Racing. From 2015 until 2018, they produced seven games in eight years before handing the reins to Motorsport Games. However, the licensing rights have now found a new home with iRacing, and we are all excited to see how the upcoming 2025 NASCAR game turns out.
