Former Marvel Comics writer, Jason Aaron, is set to return to DC Comics. Aaron, known for his work on projects like Batman: Off-World, is now joining the Superman lineup in 2024. This was revealed at the highly anticipated New York Comic-Con (NYCC).
Aaron will be part of a new initiative called "Superman Superstars," which will take place within the pages of 'Action Comics.' The initiative involves a rotating cast of creative teams spinning exciting tales about Superman and his primary enemies. For his part, Aaron will collaborate with Harley Quinn artist, John Timms, to present "I, Bizarro" - a three-part story arc set to kick-off in Action Comics #1061, due in January.
Sharing his excitement, Jason said, “Writing Superman for the first time is one of the absolute most significant honors of my career.” He promises a Superman tale "full of action and surprises," which he describes as "the most Bizarro of all Bizarro stories."
Post this arc, DC will launch a new Brainiac-focused narrative in April's Action Comics #1064. This series will feature other characters like Superman, Lex Luthor, and Lobo as they take on Brainiac and his Czarnian army. The series will be integrated into Joshua Williamson's monthly Superman comic, with Williamson also writing both the Action Comics and Superman issues.
In other news at NYCC, DC announced it's bringing back the 'Elseworlds' imprint in 2024 with a series of new comics, including a sequel to 1989's Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. There's certainly a lot to look forward to for comic fans!
