Katsuhiro Harada Wanted Colonel Sanders in Tekken, KFC Said No

Sep 30, 2024 2:19 PM

Katsuhiro Harada, the development chief of Tekken, recently shared that he attempted to include Colonel Sanders as a guest character in the iconic fighting game but was turned down by KFC. Harada's idea, which was presented to the company's head office in Japan, was met with disapproval, possibly due to the oddity of combining a fast-food mascot with a fighting game. Interestingly, Colonel Sanders did find his way into the gaming sphere through a dating simulator titled I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin' Good Dating Simulator, released by KFC in 2019. Although fans still hope for a Waffle House stage, Harada stated that approval from the Waffle House is essential for such DLC. Meanwhile, Tekken 8 is set to introduce Heihachi Mishima as its third DLC character in a story expansion called Unforgotten Echoes.

Did Colonel Sanders ever appear in a Tekken game?

No, Colonel Sanders was pitched as a guest character but ultimately not included in any Tekken games. However, he did appear in the dating simulator I Love You, Colonel Sanders!

Tekken is a legendary fighting game franchise developed by Bandai Namco, known for its diverse character roster and intricate combat mechanics. Since its debut in 1994, Tekken has become a staple in competitive gaming and continues to evolve. Tekken 8, which is set for release in early 2024, builds on the franchise's legacy with exciting new features and characters, while its rich history includes numerous collaborations and innovations that have captivated gamers worldwide.
