Gamers looking to get their hands on the Baldur's Gate 3 Deluxe Edition can rest easy, as developer Larian Studios assures there's no need to resort to scalpers. With plenty of stock available, Larian encourages players to ignore online re-sellers who are listing the Deluxe Edition at inflated prices.
Larian's publishing director, Michael Douse, took to social media with a message stating that the Deluxe Edition isn't limited in stock. He confirmed that initial orders soared past expectations on the first day, and with plans to increase production waves, Larian doesn't foresee any supply issues within the Q1 2024 shipping window.
While the Deluxe Edition, offering the physical version of Baldur's Gate 3 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, remains available for preorder, the Collector's Edition has already sold out. Despite its scarcity, players are discouraged from paying exorbitant sums on auction sites like eBay. The Deluxe Edition for PS5 will arrive on two discs, whereas the Xbox version requires three due to the game's sizable content, making it one of the platform's few games with such disc capacity. PC players will be treated to a custom installer in addition to receiving a Steam key.
Michael Douse describes the physical release strategy as an experiment and a potential future path for physical gaming media at Larian, which may continue if successful.
In other news, Baldur's Gate 3 has been a hit for Larian, not only commercially but also in terms of awards, racking up multiple accolades. Larian is also preparing to announce the Xbox release date for the title at The Game Awards, as well as teasing an upcoming new project.
For those awaiting the physical edition, Baldur's Gate 3 promises a comprehensive RPG experience with a deeply engaging story, tactical combat, and a world rich in detail beckoning for exploration, further enhancing Larian's reputation as a premier developer in the genre.
