Microsoft's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb, one of the most prominent faces in the gaming world, is leaving the company after a 22-year long career.

Hryb joined Microsoft in 2001 initially as the editor-in-chief for MSN Music before he made the transition to the Xbox team.

As the senior director of corporate communications, he became a key figure and contact for the gaming community. Besides, Hryb was part of several innovative projects at Microsoft, such as the Achievement-system and party chat, and acted as a significant representative at numerous major events.

Gaming industry bigwigs like Mike Ybarra of Blizzard and Geoff Keighley acknowledged Hryb's contributions to the industry over social media.

As for the next steps in his professional journey, 'Major Nelson' has yet to reveal his plans.
