Later this month, PlayStation Plus Premium members can stream PS5 games

Oct 12, 2023 7:45 AM

Sony recently announced an exciting update for PlayStation Plus Premium members in a PlayStation Blog post. Starting from October 23rd, premium members in Europe will be able to stream PlayStation 5 (PS5) games through the cloud. The streaming option for PS5 games will be launched in Japan on October 17th and will be available in the US from October 30th.

This update significantly enhances the existing option for streaming PS4-, PS3-, and PS2-games, already available for PlayStation Plus Premium members. The update has been anticipated since August when a beta testing for the feature had started.

Members enjoying the highest tier of PlayStation Plus subscription will now have the opportunity to stream several PS5 games straight from the game catalog - sparing them the need for downloads. The streaming service will support a maximum resolution of 4K, 60 frames per second, and 3D Audio.

A wide range of PS5 games will eventually be made available for streaming, including high-profile titles like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Mortal Kombat 11, Saints Row 4, and Ghost of Tsushima. Furthermore, demos of games like Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and The Callisto Protocol will also be streamable. Certain digitally purchased games, such as Resident Evil 4 Remake and Dead Island 2, will also be included in the streaming service.

For now, the streaming service will only be supported on PlayStation 5 consoles.
