The upcoming Google Pixel 8 smartphone will include innovative artificial intelligence (AI) functionalities for enhancing photos, according to a leaked promotional video. Published by 91Mobiles, the material showcases the Pixel 8's Magic Editor, a feature that uses AI to dampen the complexity of doctoring images. An example shown in the video had a family picture taken on a carousel where the father's gaze direction and the children's facial expressions were adjusted using the tool.

This revelation has been met with mixed reactions. While journalist Ryan Broderick criticized the feature as "alarming and grave", visualizing it as an invasion of personal memories, Ben Schoon from 9to5Google characterized these functionalities as something "the average user is going to be thrilled about".

The video further leaked intel on options to alter environmental components, such as changing skies from noon to dusk, or reconfiguring the subject of the photo. It also features a fresh addition called "Pro Controls", fashioned after DLSR controls, which provides options for adjusting ISO, enabling manual focus and shutter speed.

Despite Google not officially announcing the Pixel 8 series yet, numerous leaks and speculations have surfaced online. These include a leak from the same source, Kamila Wojciechowska, where she revealed the full specs of Pixel 8 and 8 Pro on social media. As per her information, the Pixel 8 Pro boasts a new 48MP ultra-wide camera, and the Pixel 8's ultra-wide camera registers 12MP, still both comes with the same 50MP wide camera.

The official launch of Google's next generation Pixel smartphone is scheduled for October 4.
