Many videos display new PlayStation 5 models in detail

Nov 06, 2023 9:50 AM

Several videos have been released on YouTube, detailedly showcasing the upcoming new PlayStation 5 models and comparing them with the original versions. Some video content creators like Dave2D and Linus Tech Tips have demonstrated these comparisons. It's shown that the digital edition of the new PS5 weighs 2.6 kilograms, compared to the original's 3.4 kilograms. The new PS5 with disk weighs 3.2kg, as against the original's 3.9kg.

Furthermore, some panels of the PS5 now have a glossy finish, while the part where the disk drive is placed is matte finished. The new consoles maintain similar energy consumption as the previous models—around 224.26 watt during gameplay. Noise level is also the same at 33 decibels.

The new PlayStation 5 models, which are 30% smaller and have a storage capacity of 1 terabyte, are set to hit the market later this month, replacing the current versions. One of the remodeled versions comes with a detachable disk drive. However, the disk-less edition will offer the option for a separate purchase of the drive. It's important to note that, in both scenarios, the console will need to be connected to the internet at least once for the disk drive to be paired to the console.
