The Marvels director Nia DaCosta has addressed recent reports that she left the upcoming MCU film during its post-production period. A previous report by Variety caused quite a stir among fans suggesting DaCosta was juggling too much by starting another movie, Hedda, while The Marvels was still undergoing post-production. DaCosta explained the situation was not as dramatic as depicted, revealing the film's release date had been moved four times, extending the originally planned two-year process to three and a half years. She mentioned that all involved were aware upfront of her commitment to another project.

DaCosta also noted that due to another shift in The Marvels' timeline, she would not be able to finish its production in LA. However, they found a way to wrap up her work on The Marvels remotely. Before DaCosta's clarification, many in the industry pointed out that managing multiple jobs in Hollywood is not unusual, with historical examples cited, such as Steven Spielberg working on Schindler’s List while Jurassic Park was in post-production in 1993. The Marvels is set to release in theaters on Nov. 10, 2023.
