Netflix's Tomb Raider Anime Gets Release Date

Jun 02, 2024 9:36 AM

Netflix has officially confirmed the release date for its upcoming Tomb Raider anime adaptation, titled "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft," set to premiere on October 10. This series continues after the events of the Crystal Dynamics' Survivor Trilogy—Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Unlike the games, Lara Croft will be voiced by Hayley Atwell, known for her role in the MCU, while Earl Baylon reprises his role as Jonah Maiava. The plot follows Lara abandoning her friends to return home in pursuit of a stolen Chinese artifact, leading her on a global adventure. Additionally, Crystal Dynamics is developing a new Tomb Raider game, with Amazon Games as the publisher, and Amazon is also producing a live-action Tomb Raider series for Prime Video.

Who is voicing Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider anime?

Hayley Atwell will be voicing Lara Croft in the new anime series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.

The Tomb Raider franchise began with the original video game released in 1996, and it became a cultural phenomenon, spawning movies, comics, and various other adaptations. The recent Survivor Trilogy reboot, developed by Crystal Dynamics, reimagined Lara Croft's origin story and received critical acclaim for its gameplay and narrative depth, making it a fitting precursor to Netflix’s new anime series.
