The gaming software company Larian Studios has unveiled Patch 3, the latest update for Baldur's Gate III. The comprehensive update not only introduces fixes for a host of issues, it also extends the complete game release to Mac devices and features a new functionality allowing alterations to a game character's appearance via an in-game Magic Mirror. However, curtailments apply in that changes cannot be made to the character's race/subrace and body type.
The patch also advises Mac users intending to upgrade to a full game status to uninstall any previous versions and remove all mods ahead of the patch installation to ensure compatibility. A revised specification for the optimal gaming experience on Mac suggests an M1 Pro processor and FSR-enabled, particularly for high or ultra settings on a Retina display.
Located in a player's camp, the Magic Mirror tool permits endless transformations to a character's look, inclusive of voice, pronouns, and even 'sexy regions'. However, this does not extend to 'Origin' characters, hirelings, and full illithids. Also, any aesthetic modifications arising from gameplay endeavors stay permanent, implying life decision outcomes actualized via gameplay determine the character's visual look.
Patch 3 also incorporates fixture improvements for combat issues, alignment of elemental damage types with PS5 controller colors, elevated performance levels in the Lower City, and even behavioral adjustments for non-player characters. More improvements encompass some spell and controls enhancements, level design changes, upgraded cinematics, and more.
Following the hefty Patch 3, Larian Studios hints at further updates which would incorporate additional features and concluding scenes.
