The popular 2022 horror game, Iron Lung, has a new mode featuring YouTube star Markiplier, according to a Steam announcement from the game's developer, David Szymanski. This new mode, dubbed the Markiplier Mode, alters the submarine's textures to feature images of Markiplier. The mode is activated using the command "chmark". The Cheats Update, which introduces this bizarre mode, also comes with a few other cheats such as a "rave" mode.
Interestingly, Markiplier is not only involved in the game but also plans to direct and star in a movie adaptation of Iron Lung, a game which involves a convict exploring an alien moon's blood ocean in a cramped submarine. Szymanski also announced that the price of Iron Lung would be increased from $6 to $8, although it is currently on sale as part of Steam's Halloween sale. Upcoming updates and DLC, which include behind-the-scenes photos to be released after the movie, will be available at no extra cost.
It is worth noting that Iron Lung shot to indie stardom, partly due to Markiplier playing it last year, and also due to a rise in sales following the real-life disappearance of the Titan submersible, which bears a similar premise to the game. The Iron lung movie is headed to theatres, with the release date yet to be announced.
