HBO Max Ad-Free Legacy Subscribers will lose access to 4K streaming next month due to a policy change announced by Warner Bros. Discovery. The standard ad-free plan will no longer support 4K or HDR streaming, reducing the quality to Full HD resolution. Those who want to continue enjoying 4K and HDR streaming will need to upgrade to the "Ultimate" tier, which costs $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year. Earlier this year, it was reported that some perks, such as 4K streaming, would remain available for a minimum of six months after the rebranding of the service from HBO Max to Max.

In addition to these changes, the number of devices that can stream from the service simultaneously will be reduced from three to two. However, offline downloads will not be affected. Current ad-free customers can download up to 30 shows or movies on supported devices for offline viewing. Despite these restrictions, Max has not increased its price recently. Even as it reduced content throughout the year as a cost-cutting measure, the extensive selection of well-curated movies and TV shows keeps Max an appealing choice for cinema and TV enthusiasts.
