Jan 13, 2024 12:00 PM

Fans of 'The Last of Us' series are in for a treat as the documentary 'Grounded 2: Making of The Last of Us: Part 2' is set to release on January 19, 2023, the same day as 'The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered' for PlayStation 5. The documentary, which began production in 2016, was paused due to the global pandemic but is now ready to be unveiled on YouTube. The follow-up documentary continues to delve into the development journey much like its predecessor, 'Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us', did for the first game.

'The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered' on PS5 promises improved visuals with 4K in Fidelity Mode and 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode, alongside new content such as the 'No Return' mode and 'The Lost Levels.' Players with the original PS4 game can upgrade to the PS5 version for a nominal fee, and can look forward to shorter load times, VRR support for TVs, and enhanced DualSense haptic feedback.

What new features does The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered include for PS5?

The upgraded PS5 version features 4K resolution support, a new 'No Return' roguelike mode, previously unseen 'Lost Levels', streamlined loading times, DualSense controller haptic feedback, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for compatible TVs. PS4 owners of the game can upgrade to the PS5 Remastered version for an additional cost.

'The Last of Us: Part 2', released in June 2020, is a narrative-driven action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game follows the story of Ellie and Joel, characters established in the first game, as they navigate a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a fungal pandemic. Emphasizing emotional storytelling and character development, the game has been praised for its captivating narrative, complex characters, and moral ambiguity, sparking much discussion and critical acclaim within the gaming community.

For all the The Last of Us die-hards, January 19th is shaping up to be a feast of fidelity and feels with 'Grounded 2' peeling back the curtain on TLOU2's epic journey, while 'The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered' cranks the PS5 experience to eleven with slick visuals and spine-tingling haptics. Naughty Dog sure knows how to keep the emotional rollercoaster going, serving up that sweet, sweet narrative depth fans crave, all while keeping the gameplay fresh with new modes and features.

Naughty Dog is really spoiling us with this double whammy of nostalgia and innovation - the 'Grounded 2' doc should provide an awesome behind-the-scenes look for fans, and the PS5 remaster of 'The Last of Us: Part 2' sounds like it'll be a great way to dive back into Ellie's emotionally complex journey with all those next-gen bells and whistles. It's pretty neat to see a classic being kept fresh with new modes and a serious graphics boost, especially for those ready to relive the feels or experience them for the first time in 4K glory 🎮💖

The dual drop of 'Grounded 2' and 'The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered' is a strategic play that's gonna hit the sweet spot for fans craving both behind-the-scenes content and polished gameplay experiences. Naughty Dog's leveraging that documentary insight alongside the PS5's beefy hardware to deepen the immersion in Ellie's gritty journey - clever move that speaks to both the head and the heart of gamers.
