Nintendo Increases Switch 2 Accessory Prices, Console Stays Same

Apr 18, 2025 2:08 PM

Nintendo has announced price increases for several accessories related to the upcoming Switch 2, as US tariffs affect production costs. The new Joy-Con 2 will be priced at $95, with the Switch 2 Pro controller and camera also seeing a $5 increase. Despite these rising accessory prices, Nintendo has opted not to raise the console's price of $450 or its game prices at launch. Pre-orders for the Switch 2 will finally open next week, with the launch date set for June 5, 2025. Nintendo mentioned that future price adjustments may occur based on market conditions.

What price increases should consumers expect for Nintendo Switch 2 accessories?

Consumers can expect an increase of $5 for key accessories such as the Joy-Con 2, which will now cost $95, as well as $85 for the Switch 2 Pro controller and $55 for the Switch 2 camera due to US tariffs.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to enhance and expand the popular hybrid console experience, following the original Switch which launched in 2017. The console has been praised for its versatility and library of games, with strong titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. The extended success of the original Switch has led to high expectations for the new console, both in terms of hardware performance and software offerings.

At least Nintendo’s keeping the console price steady, but those accessory hikes are gonna sting for anyone looking to deck out their setup. Here’s hoping the Joy-Con 2’s rumored upgrades make that $95 tag a bit easier to swallow.

Oof, $95 for Joy-Cons hurts, but at least the console itself stayed at $450—small mercies, I guess. Still, those tariffs are really putting the squeeze on accessory prices. Kinda wild that after all these years, Nintendo’s still sticking to that $60 game price while everything else creeps up. Here’s hoping the Joy-Con 2’s durability justifies the cost.
