Nintendo Switch Online Expands with Four New SNES Games

Mar 21, 2025 10:41 AM

Nintendo has revealed that four new SNES games will be available on the Nintendo Switch Online service starting March 28, 2025. This release includes two titles from the acclaimed Nobunaga's Ambition series, which involves strategic gameplay set in feudal Japan, directly tying into themes from the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows game. The full lineup includes Nobunaga's Ambition, Nobunaga's Ambition: Lord of Darkness, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4: Wall of Fire, and Uncharted Waters: New Horizons. Additionally, the popular SNES game Super Soccer will be removed from the service on the same day, raising questions about future delistings.

What new SNES games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online?

The new games include two entries from the Nobunaga's Ambition series, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4: Wall of Fire, and Uncharted Waters: New Horizons, set to launch on March 28, 2025.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is the latest installment in Ubisoft's popular franchise, set during Japan's feudal era. Players can expect engaging narratives that intertwine with historical figures, like Oda Nobunaga, who is a significant character in both the Assassin’s Creed universe and the Nobunaga's Ambition series. The link between these games could attract fans interested in strategy games as well as action-adventure titles.

It’s awesome to see Nintendo adding more niche SNES titles like *Nobunaga’s Ambition* and *Uncharted Waters*—those deep cuts really show they’re catering to strategy fans. Still, it’s a bummer to see *Super Soccer* go, but hey, at least we’re getting some fresh (well, retro) vibes to balance it out

It's cool to see Nintendo digging into some deeper cuts from the SNES library, especially with the Nobunaga's Ambition series—perfect timing to ride the feudal Japan hype wave from Assassin's Creed Shadows. Though losing Super Soccer stings a bit, it’s a solid trade-off for some classic strategy gems.
