Blizzard has confirmed the next hero for Overwatch 2 to be Mauga, the game's first Samoan hero, following a leak reported by Polygon and Reddit users. The unveiling happened at BlizzCon 2023 and showed off the character's weapons and abilities, predominantly heavy artillery. More heroes are expected in Overwatch 2 next year, including Venture, a damage hero, and a new support hero currently codenamed Space Ranger. Additionally, Blizzard announced a new PvP game mode called Clash, the reintroduction of the Hanamura map as Hanaoka in 2024, and a revised competitive system set for early 2024 rewards. Mauga will join the roster on December 5, following a sneak peek trial. However, Overwatch 2 faces criticism, and it ranks as one of the worst user-reviewed games on Steam due to various controversial decisions, particularly the conversion from premium Overwatch to free-to-play Overwatch 2.
