Nintendo recently announced that the popular GameCube RPG, "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door", will be making a comeback with improved graphics in 2024. This game takes you on a journey with Mario and his friends to uncover the legendary treasure hidden behind the ancient Thousand-Year Door.
In this second installment in the Paper Mario series, Mario and Princess Peach set off on an adventure to find a mysterious treasure, but things quickly go south when Peach is abducted by the alien group, the X-Nauts. It's then up to Mario to not only find the treasure but to also rescue the princess.
The gameplay prominently consists of you taking control of Mario, with characters like Bowser and Princess Peach taking the lead at certain sections of the game. As for the storyline, it revolves around a kingdom that was sunk beneath the sea and built over by the town of Rogueport. A treasure believed to be from the lost kingdom is rumored to exist behind a door within these ruins.
The journey begins when Peach sends Mario a letter with a map she obtained in Rogueport, asking him to join her. However, before Mario can reach her, Peach is kidnapped by the X-Nauts and taken to their moon base. Their boss, Grodus, is also after the treasure map.
In Rogueport, Mario learns that the map reveals the location of seven Crystal Stars, all required to unlock the Thousand-Year Door. He sets on a mission to find these Crystal Stars, making new allies along the way. Meanwhile, Bowser, in his plot to rule the world, schemes to steal the Crystal Stars for himself.
This entertaining and engaging game, 20 years after its original release, is expected to be a hit among new and old players once again when it releases on Switch in 2024. Stay tuned for more updates!
