Paradox Interactive, a renowned gaming company, has termed their recent venture, "The Lamplighters League," as a major letdown, contributing to a big financial hit of approximately $22 million. The Swedish company came to this conclusion after realizing the game probably won't generate the returns they initially anticipated.

"The Lamplighters League", although an engaging game with several highlights, hasn't been as commercially successful as expected, said Paradox CEO, Fredrik Wester. The CEO further emphasized that despite the risky nature of game projects, they didn't meet their expected performance level with "The Lamplighters League".

The game, which blends stealth gameplay and XCOM-style combat in a chic 1930's setup, launched on October 3. It seems to have been positively welcomed by a number of players on subscription services, possibly pointing to its availability on Xbox Game Pass from launch day onwards. Despite the unfortunate financial outcome, Paradox remains committed to creating better projects in the future.

The game received a decent score of 7 out of 10 in our review, commending its clever mix of squad tactics, stealth, and thrilling adventures. As per the review, even though the game starts off slow, it gradually builds momentum, thanks to the appealing design of its characters and foes.
