Paradox Hands Bloodlines 3 to New Developer After Bloodlines 2 Drama

Oct 08, 2024 3:15 PM

In a recent announcement, Paradox Interactive's deputy CEO Mattias Lilja expressed a significant shift in the company's approach regarding the Vampire: The Masquerade franchise. After a tumultuous development phase for Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2, Lilja stated that any potential sequel, Bloodlines 3, will be handed off to different developers. This decision comes as Paradox steers its focus back to strategy games, distancing itself from the RPG genre. Bloodlines 2 is still in development with The Chinese Room aiming for a release in the first half of 2025, transforming it into a more action-oriented experience compared to the original's approach.

nWill Bloodlines 3 be developed by Paradox Interactive?

No, Paradox Interactive will not develop Bloodlines 3. Lilja confirmed that if Bloodlines 2 is successful, the sequel will be created by another developer under a licensing agreement from Paradox.

Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines, released in 2004 by Troika Games, quickly gained a cult following for its deep narrative and immersive RPG mechanics. The sequel, Bloodlines 2, was initially announced in 2019 but has faced numerous delays and development issues, putting its future in question. The franchise, known for its rich lore and gothic atmosphere, has a passionate fan base eagerly awaiting updates on its progress.
