The developers of 'Lords of the Fallen', a dark fantasy action-RPG game from Hexworks, have released Patch v.1.1.203 to target performance issues, as highlighted in a recent announcement on the game's Steam page. The game was launched last week and received mixed user reviews, with a rating of 57% on Steam, primarily due to performance issues including frequent game crashes.
The new patch promised "substantial performance improvements", with a focus on liberating VRAM to provide added headroom for GPUs that operate at the brink of their capabilities. The process is expected to take time as the team aims to ensure quality doesn't suffer from their adjustments.
The patch notes detail a broad range of amendments, including stability fixes of several crash scenarios, performance enhancements such as adjusted texture sizes and reduced memory allocation, and gameplay improvements including balancing adjustments and minor bug fixes.
Post-patch, a reviewer at IGN claimed "Lords of the Fallen is a great soulslike, with its idea of swapping between two versions of the world to solve puzzles and slay enemies setting it apart from the pack. But it is still hampered by numerous technical issues and weak boss fights, with the exploration and buildcrafting aspects compensating for these shortcomings".
