penguin trailer teases max release window

Jun 20, 2024 3:07 PM

WB Discovery has unveiled a new teaser trailer for "The Penguin," a spinoff TV series from the 2022 film "The Batman" directed by Matt Reeves. Starring Colin Farrell as the Penguin, the series delves into the character's struggle to dominate Gotham City's criminal underworld following Carmine Falcone's death. Falcone's daughter, Sofia, also vies for the same power. The Penguin will release on Max in September 2024, narrowing the previously suggested Fall release window. Announced in September 2021, this spinoff is part of several projects expanding the Batman universe, including an upcoming show on the Gotham City Police Department and another focusing on Arkham Asylum, plus a sequel to "The Batman" set to release in October 2026.

When will "The Penguin" TV series be released?

The Penguin TV series is scheduled to release in September 2024 on Max, narrowing the previously anticipated Fall release window.

"The Batman," directed by Matt Reeves in 2022, introduced a darker, grittier Gotham City and was praised for its thrilling and violent narrative. Colin Farrell’s portrayal of the Penguin was well-received, leading to the creation of this spinoff series. The film's success has led to a rapidly expanding universe, with additional spinoffs and a sequel further developing Reeves' unique take on the Batman mythology.
