The release timeline for the highly awaited video game, The Elder Scrolls 6, is still a mystery. Microsoft has hinted that the game could potentially hit the markets as soon as 2026. When the game was first announced in 2018, no one expected that five years later, there would still be no gameplay footage available. The game's release platform is also yet to be confirmed.
Xbox head, Phil Spencer, had implied in the past that the game might not come to PS5 and might be at least five years away from launch. However, as part of the Federal Trade Commission's case against Microsoft for acquiring Activision Blizzard, Microsoft has now stated that the game could release as early as 2026 and would probably only be available on Xbox and PC.
Bethesda games, following their acquisition by Microsoft since 2018, showcased varied release patterns. Some games initially limited to PS5 later got Xbox releases, while others were launched on all major platforms except for the Switch.
However, it seems unlikely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released in 2026, as the development only properly started last month. Phil Spencer's position on the game's platform exclusivity remains unclear. Yet, after the successful exclusive release of Starfield on Xbox, fans are hoping for some concrete information on The Elder Scrolls 6 release date and platforms.
