PS5 Update Enables Players to Share Gameplay for Community Support
Mar 26, 2024 1:13 PMPlayStation 5 is set to enhance its gameplay experience with the introduction of Community Game Help later this year. This feature allows PS5 gamers to upload and share their gameplay clips to aid others. The innovative system, which does not require a PlayStation Plus subscription, creates a community-driven support network where players can access hints from both developers and the community. Players can rate the hints for effectiveness, allowing the most useful information to rise to the top. Sony emphasizes that the contribution process is effortless, with automatic capture and moderation before any gameplay footage is shared publicly.
How does the PS5 Community Game Help feature work?
The Community Game Help feature will automatically record a player's gameplay when they complete specific in-game activities. Once approved by a moderator, these clips will be uploaded as hints. Other players can watch and rate these videos. Notably, personal data such as webcam images or microphone audio will not be shared – only the gameplay footage is published as a hint. This feature will begin rolling out in selected games, with plans to expand over time.
The PS5, launched in November 2020, initially came with a Game Help feature, designed to provide players with a way to receive tips and walkthroughs without having to exit their current game session. This relied solely on developers to create and provide content. Now, with Community Game Help, Sony is opening up the possibility for players themselves to contribute to this help system, capitalizing on their gameplay achievements to assist others.
