Volition Games, the developer behind the popular Saints Row series, has announced it is shutting down with immediate effect.
The closure came as a result of restructuring within the Embracer Group, the parent company. The Embracer Group promises to support the approximately 300 employees of Volition Games in finding new jobs, although it hasn't clarified whether these jobs will be within or outside the parent company.
Volition Games, started in 1993, became well-known for their success with the Saints Row series, especially the third and fourth installments. However, in recent years the developer faced a setback. Their reboot of the Saints Row series last year was met with significant criticism over uninspired gameplay and technical issues.
