In October, "guilds" will be introduced. They can be established by any player who has reached the captain status and owns a ship. Each guild can accommodate up to 24 players, and they will have the ability to choose a name and logo.
November will see the addition of "The Skull of the Siren Song." This is an expansive race across the server where players vie to discover a mysterious treasure. As mentioned, private servers will be introduced in December, allowing up to four friends to explore a private world. This feature is particularly tailored towards Players versus Environment (PvE) content. However, these private servers will not support Guilds, Hourglass Factions, and live-service events such as Gold & Glory. Also, players will only earn 30% of the gold they would typically earn on regular servers.
Additionally, the third episode of Monkey Island is almost set for release. Earlier this year, 'Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island' was announced where players can set sail to various iconic locations from the Monkey Island series. Two episodes have been released to date, with the final piece known as 'The Lair of LeChuck', releasing soon.
However, some players expressed disappointment that this highly requested PvE mode was only being added now. Some reflected fondly on their time with 'Sea of Thieves', while others felt that it was high time for the developers, Rare, to focus on a different intellectual property.
