Sea of Thieves Private Servers Launch Next Week
Sea of Thieves is gearing up to introduce private servers in its upcoming update dubbed Safe Seas, launching on December 7. This new feature, long requested by the community since the game's release in 2018, will allow players to sail and explore in a more peaceful environment without the threat of PvP engagements.
The update will enable players to form up to four-person crews on these private servers, focusing solely on the game's PvE elements. The original game mode, now referred to as High Seas, will retain the PvP aspect. However, there are some limitations with Safe Seas: Guilds, Hourglass Factions, and Gold & Glory events won't be accessible, and users won't be able to progress past level 40 for Trading Companies. To reach Pirate Legend status, players must play on High Seas.
Captains with custom ships will also feel the pinch as these ships won't be usable in Safe Seas. Moreover, players on private servers will earn only 30% of the gold they would earn on High Seas, which has raised concerns within the community as many feel this reduction is overly strict.
The introduction of private servers follows the October release of Season 10, which added new activities like the Skull of Siren Song voyage and the option for players to create their own guild.
Sea of Thieves fans have more to look forward to with this update that promises a more relaxed solo or co-op sailing experience.
