Jul 26, 2024 9:49 PM

At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, unveiled the first teaser trailer for the animated series "Creature Commandos." The event, which took place at the "Jim Lee & Friends" panel, showcased Frank Grillo's Rick Flag Sr. visiting Belle Reve Prison and interacting with Viola Davis' Amanda Waller. The teaser introduces the eclectic team of The Bride, Dr. Phosphorous, Weasel, GI Robot, Nina Mazursky, and Frankenstein, emphasizing the government's ban on using human prisoners. Gunn's ability to popularize obscure characters was praised, highlighting his previous successes with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The series will premiere on Max in December 2024, marking the inaugural project of Gunn and Peter Safran's rebooted DC Universe.

What characters will be featured in the Creature Commandos series?

The series will feature The Bride, Dr. Phosphorous, Weasel, GI Robot, Nina Mazursky, Frankenstein, and Rick Flag Sr.

"Creature Commandos" is part of DC's ongoing efforts to revitalize its cinematic universe under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. The show aims to bring lesser-known characters into the spotlight, much like Gunn successfully did with Guardians of the Galaxy. This aligns with DC's broader strategy to diversify its character roster and storytelling approaches to appeal to a wider audience. The series' pilot season will consist of seven episodes and will feature an impressive voice cast, including Steve Agee, Maria Bakalova, and David Harbour.
