FromSoftware's action game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, has reached a significant milestone, selling over 10 million copies globally as announced by the developer. The news follows four years after the game's initial launch in March 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC by publisher Activision, with a Google Stadia version debuting in October 2020.
IGN's review of Sekiro was highly positive, commending the game as a unique and stylish take on FromSoftware's formula. It represents a divergence in an exciting and original direction that the reviewer considered distinct from the Souls series.
The game saw impressive sales right from its release, selling over two million copies within the first 10 days and rising to five million by July 2020, a figure that has since doubled three years later.
This new sales milestone has prompted speculation about the possibility of a sequel, even more so since FromSoftware never released any DLC for Sekiro. Despite the release of successful titles like Elden Ring and Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon since Sekiro's launch, the company has yet to announce any new projects, save for the anticipated Elden Ring DLC.
