Bethesda has released an update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition which introduces a new paid mods feature known as Creations, signalling the end of the Creation Club. This new system consolidates existing mods, Creation Club items, and new creations into one streamlined menu. The update also brings enhancements like Steam Deck support and ultrawide screen support, with varied download sizes—approximately 13GB for consoles and 600MB for PC.

Along with these new features, the update includes a number of bug fixes, stability improvements, and platform-specific adjustments. A new Resource Pack has been released for creators, and the official website for Creations has been improved to facilitate better content discovery and uploading.

However, there is a concern for mod users; the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) is incompatible with the new update. This tool is crucial for many Skyrim mods, so users may want to delay updating if they rely on these mods. Bethesda is reportedly collaborating with the SKSE creator to address the issue. Furthermore, Halgari is updating the Special Edition Downgrade Patcher to work with the new update. Adjustments to the names and pricing of credit packs are expected to occur on December 12.

For more information on Creations and the update, official patch notes and resources are available through the updated Creations website.

Will my existing mods work with the new Skyrim Special Edition update?

If your mods rely on the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE), they may not work once you apply the new Skyrim Special Edition update. It’s advisable to wait until SKSE is updated to be compatible with the latest version of the game in order to ensure mod functionality.
