Sony has lodged a patent for a PlayStation controller with the unique feature of storing and charging earbuds within the controller itself. The patent reveals multiple storage options, suggesting Sony is exploring various ways of storing the earbuds.

In addition to storage, the patent describes a way the controller could also pair the earbuds to both the controller and the console, mitigating the need for separate connections. However, no official announcements have been made about this controller released yet, and it's uncertain whether this patented tech will ever make it to market.

Sony introduced the PlayStation Portal earlier this year and detailed new wireless audio tech called PlayStation Link used for the Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds for the PlayStation 5. The release dates for these products are still unknown. The Pulse Elite is priced at 149.99 euros and the Pulse Explore at 219.99 euros. Both the Elite and Explore connect directly to the PlayStation Portal via PlayStation Link. Sony also acquired headphone company Audeze earlier this year.
