Sony: 'This Autumn is expected to be one of the strongest periods for PlayStation sales ever'

Oct 27, 2023 11:00 AM

Sony anticipates this fall to be one of the strongest periods for PlayStation sales to date, as shared by Eric Lempel, Senior Vice President of Sony Interactive Entertainment. This is due to a phenomenal product coupled with the release of games, such as the recently released Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Also, for the first time this fall, the PlayStation 5 will be readily available for purchase.

The senior VP also discussed virtual reality, shedding light on the PlayStation VR2, which was released last February. Although some consumers believe game support for the VR2 has been lacking, Lempel emphasizes how VR is essential to Sony's innovation and provides unique experiences that consumers love.

He also touched on PlayStation Plus and the previously announced price increases, stating that they offer an impressive selection of games on top of other features and services. Unexpectedly, a third of the Plus subscribers have shifted to the top two tiers.

In addition, Sony has recently announced new, smaller PlayStation 5 models. These will come with a detachable disk drive and another model without it. These consoles are set to replace current PS5 models later in November.
