The Legacy of Kain series is making a return in the form of a new graphic novel titled "Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver – The Dead Shall Rise." This prequel offers fresh content in the beloved series and reveals more about Raziel's human past as a Sarafan warrior and his transformation into a vampire under Kain. Created by Crystal Dynamics and Bit Bot Media, the novel introduces a new vampire character connected to Raziel and Kain. Written by Joshua Viola and Angie Hodapp, it features artwork by Juan Samu and other notable artists, with narrative guidance from Brent Friedman. The project will be crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and fans can sign up on BackerKit for launch notifications.

Will the Legacy of Kain series return with new games?

There is a possibility of new Legacy of Kain games in the future, as Embracer Group, which owns the IP, received significant interest from a survey conducted in 2022. Phil Rogers, CEO of Embracer's 12th operative group, stated that they are considering the passionate fan responses and will continue to update on potential new developments in the series.

The Legacy of Kain series debuted with "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain" in 1996 and gained a loyal following through subsequent titles including "Soul Reaver" and "Defiance." The games are set in the dark, gothic world of Nosgoth and revolve around themes of betrayal, power, and redemption, making them a beloved classic among fans of action-adventure and gothic horror genres.
