The ongoing alpha updates for Star Citizen are pushing forward with the latest release, dubbed as alpha 3.21 or the Mission Ready update. This patch has been launched by the developer, Cloud Imperium Games (CIG), prior to the two-day event, CitizenCon 2953, which is anticipated to unveil the future trajectory of the controversial space sim.
Chairman and CEO of CIG, and Star Citizen's creative director, Chris Roberts, expressed excitement about the new releases and the opportunity to collect player feedback during the event. Emphasizing on the importance of both law abiding and criminal gameplay, the Mission Ready update extends game content and systems, promising high-risk-high-reward scenarios for criminally inclined pilots.
Details of Alpha 3.21 include a technical milestone known as Replication Layer Split Preview, which is a vital step towards creating a single environment shared by all players. The brand-new Crusader A1 Spirit represents a new line of advanced, high-performance ships in the game. Additionally, two new missions have been introduced which involve high risk but lucrative rewards, along with an expansion of Crusader's Platforms.
Star Citizen, kickstarted into existence in 2012, is one of gaming's most debated projects, having raised a whopping $612,756,728 from over 4.8 million accounts. Though often criticized for its virtual spacecrafts costing hundreds of dollars and doubts over its eventual launch, it has undeniably amassed immense funding.
