Starfield's Latest Update Eliminates Lockpicking Penalty

Mar 19, 2024 7:30 PM

Bethesda Game Studios has released a new update for Starfield, which brings several improvements to the game across all platforms. Among the most significant changes, update 1.10.31 has removed the penalty for pressing "Undo" in the lockpicking minigame, which previously cost players a Digipick. This tweak aims to alleviate frustration during this critical gameplay component, especially when facing higher-difficulty locks and having a scarce supply of Digipicks.

Additional changes highlighted in the patch notes include enhancements to photo mode, quest adjustments, support for adjusting the field of view in 3rd person ship view, and numerous fixes to graphics, gameplay, and UI elements. Players can now open doors and harvest with the scanner opened, and there's an autosave function when fast-travelling from a planet's surface to orbit. This update also includes numerous bug fixes spanning art, gameplay, outposts, and stability, addressing both minor nuisances and significant game playability issues.

What are the key features of the Starfield lockpicking minigame update?

The key feature in the new Starfield update is the removal of the Digipick cost for using the "Undo" function during the Security minigame, which will make the lockpicking experience less frustrating for players. The update also includes the introduction of expressions and poses for characters in Photomode, enhancements to quest tracking and navigation, improvements to in-game physics, graphics, and frame rate performance, in addition to an autosave feature for space travel.

Starfield is an upcoming role-playing space exploration game from Bethesda Game Studios, known for its critically-acclaimed franchises such as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Anticipation for Starfield has been high, as it represents Bethesda's first new universe in 25 years. The game aims to offer vast open worlds, customizable spaceships, and intricate gameplay mechanics, set against the backdrop of the galaxy as players embark on a journey to answer humanity's greatest mystery. As a single-player game, Starfield has promised to provide an expansive narrative with the freedom for players to forge their own paths and make their mark among the stars.
