Valve has announced a groundbreaking built-in game recording system for Steam aimed at providing a seamless experience for users who want to capture and share their gaming moments. The new recording feature will be integrated into both Steam and the portable Steam Deck, eliminating the need for third-party apps like Decky Recorder. This recording system is performance-optimized, comes with options for disk usage customization, and supports exporting clips in mp4 format. Players can opt into this feature by joining the beta through Steam's settings menu.

Steam is a digital distribution platform developed by Valve Corporation, offering services like digital rights management, multiplayer gaming, and social networking. Launched in 2003, it has grown to include thousands of games, from AAA titles to indie gems. The Steam Deck, released in 2022, is a handheld gaming computer designed to run PC games from the Steam library, expanding the ways gamers can enjoy their favorite titles on the go.
