The game "Skull Island: Rise of Kong" which faced much criticism following its release was developed within a year, according to revelations made by IguanaBee, the game's developer, to The Verge. The development process for the game began in June last year and needed to be finished by June of the current year, revealed an anonymous developer. The development team consisted of no more than twenty members.
Upon release, "Skull Island: Rise of Kong" faced backlash online, with gamers criticizing its graphics, animations, and gameplay. The game's notably short development period, thus doesn't come as a surprise. Some even went as far as to call it the worst game of the year so far.
An ex-employee of IguanaBee stated that it's "usual" for games developed for GameMill to have relatively limited time and financial resources. Starting from February this year, developers were said to be in 'crunch mode’ to finish as much of the game as possible. An anonymous source lamented, "Since the end of February, I was on autopilot because all hope was lost."
The game has been available on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
