Exciting news for fans of The Last of Us as rumors indicate 'The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered' is being developed primarily by new Naughty Dog employees, while lead director Neil Druckmann is reportedly working on an entirely new game. While further details about Naughty Dog's new game remain undisclosed, there's also speculation about a singleplayer The Last of Us Part 3 in development.

Announced for release on January 19, 2024, for PlayStation 5, 'The Last of Us: Part 2 Remastered' promises to deliver 4K resolution in Fidelity Mode, and 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode. The remaster will feature shorter load times and utilize the DualSense controller's haptic feedback to enhance immersion. A new 'No Return' roguelike survival mode will invite players to control different characters and face various randomized battles and stealth sections. The remaster will also feature 'Lost Levels' providing a glimpse into the game's early development stages and commentary from the creators.

Additional features returning include Speedrun Mode, unlockable bonus skins for Ellie and Abby, expanded weapon customization, and an enhanced photo mode. A special 'W.L.F. Edition' of the game comes with collectible items, available through PlayStation Direct.

For those who already own 'The Last of Us: Part 2' on PS4, an upgrade to the remastered PS5 version will be available for $10. Furthermore, players will be able to transfer their save files. While a PC version is not yet announced, the expectation is high since 'The Last of Us: Part 1' made its way to PC.

This remaster is set to give both newcomers and returning players an enriched experience of the critically acclaimed narrative and is yet another exciting addition to PlayStation 5's growing library of titles.
