The Monkey Director Calls Stephen King Adaptation a Comedy

Jun 27, 2024 8:40 PM

Director Osgood Perkins reveals that his adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Monkey” is more of a comedy than the horror typical of King’s works. Perkins, who often works behind the camera, will also play a part as an "asshole uncle" in the film. Slated for release on February 21, 2025, the movie is produced by horror icon James Wan and features a mix of scares and humor, resembling a lighthearted Stephen King narrative. Perkins likened the film to a collaboration between filmmaker Robert Zemeckis with a hint of acid, set around a monkey toy. The stellar cast includes Theo James, Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy.

Stephen King's "The Monkey" movie is scheduled to be released on February 21, 2025.

"The Monkey," based on Stephen King’s short story from his 1985 collection "Skeleton Crew," tells the tale of a sinister toy monkey that reveals dark secrets and causes mayhem.
