The Sinking City Gets Unreal Engine 5 Remaster

Mar 31, 2025 2:00 PM

Frogwares has announced a remaster of its Lovecraft-inspired game, The Sinking City, using Unreal Engine 5. This upgrade comes as The Sinking City 2's crowdfunding campaign wraps up, aiming for a shift from investigation to horror-focused gameplay. The remaster promises enhanced visuals, including relighting, 4K textures, and improved reflections, along with new features like a Photo Mode. Owners of the original game will receive the remaster for free once it releases on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Fans are also invited to contribute their voices for the game’s soundtrack, adding a unique community aspect to the remaster.

When will The Sinking City Remastered be released?

While an official release date for The Sinking City Remastered has not been announced, it is confirmed to launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Stay tuned for updates from Frogwares regarding the specific release date.

The Sinking City first launched in 2019, positioning players as Charles Reed, a private investigator grappling with eerie visions in the haunted city of Oakmont, Massachusetts. As a blend of horror and investigation, the game was well-received for its intricate storytelling and atmospheric setting, capturing the essence of H.P. Lovecraft's work.
