Valve Set to Launch Steam Controller 2 and New VR Device

Valve is reportedly developing a successor to its original Steam Controller, codenamed "Ibex," which is currently progressing toward mass production. This second-generation controller is expected to adopt a more traditional gamepad appearance, featuring modified trackpads and symmetrical thumbsticks. Additionally, Valve is also said to be creating a new VR controller named "Roy," designed to complement the rumored standalone headset known as "Deckard." Both of these devices aim to enhance user experience and expand Valve’s gaming hardware ecosystem, aligning with the popularity of modern gaming preferences.

The Steam Controller originally released in 2015 was notable for its unique design that integrated trackpads, allowing for greater flexibility in control schemes, especially for PC games. However, it received mixed reviews, prompting Valve to rethink its approach with the upcoming Ibex controller. The anticipated new VR headset, Deckard, aims to provide a more user-friendly, standalone experience compared to previous models, catering to the growing VR gaming market.
