The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is discontinuing its handouts of exclusive Pokémon cards. The initiative was part of a special Pokémon exhibition at the museum last month, featuring paintings inspired by Van Gogh's self-portraits and other famous works like 'The Bedroom'.

As part of the exhibition, the museum offered special Pokémon Trading cards to visitors who successfully completed a treasure hunt and showcased a video demonstrating how artists draw Pikachu.

However, the card giveaway led to chaotic turnout including many people, known as scalpers, intending to resell the card and other merchandise for a profit. Hence, the museum decided to cease the card giveaways due to safety concerns. They stated, "Due to recent incidents involving a small group of individuals causing undesirable situations, we've made the difficult decision to no longer make the special Pikachu x Van Gogh Museum promo card available in the museum. This way, visitors can enjoy this special collection of paintings and the rest of the museum in a safe and enjoyable manner."

The exhibition continues, but the exclusive card is no longer available at the venue. The museum has indicated that an alternative method of obtaining the card will be offered through the Pokémon Center website in the future.
