May 22, 2025 4:50 PM

Relic Entertainment has officially announced the release of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition, a modernized version of the iconic real-time strategy game that originally launched 20 years ago. This enhanced edition will be available on PC through Steam and GOG later this year. It includes all the original gameplay elements while optimizing them for contemporary hardware. This edition features 4K support, upscaled textures, enhanced lighting effects, and a more expansive camera view. The Definitive Edition aims to preserve the classic experience while improving visuals and performance. Fans are hopeful that this release could pave the way for a new Dawn of War game, possibly Dawn of War 4.

What new features are included in the Definitive Edition of Dawn of War?

The Definitive Edition includes significantly upgraded graphics with 4K support, improved textures, enhanced lighting, and optimizations for widescreen viewing. It also incorporates all four original campaigns, nine armies, and over 200 maps, while remaining compatible with a vast array of community mods developed over the past two decades.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War was originally released in 2004 and has been widely regarded as one of the best RTS games set in the Warhammer universe. The game was notable for its innovative gameplay, deep lore, and engaging multiplayer features, setting a high standard for future titles in the franchise.
