Wii U CoD fans crushed by Nintendo - 9000 matches left

Jan 24, 2024 4:15 PM

The gaming community dedicated to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on the Wii U has some important news – Nintendo has set an end date for online services on the 3DS and Wii U platforms, which will affect their ability to play online. Despite a previous announcement indicating an early April 2024 termination, an exact date has now been specified. As of April 8, 2024, various online functionalities, including co-op play and internet rankings for the Wii U, will no longer be available. However, services like the Pokémon Bank will remain operational for the time being. Additionally, eShop balances must be transferred to a Nintendo Account by March 12 for use on the Switch, with the possibility of an earlier service discontinuation if unforeseen issues arise. For fans still active in the Black Ops 2 community, this provides a definitive timeline to enjoy as many matches as possible before the closure.

How many online matches can I still play in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on the Wii U before the service ends?

Assuming uninterrupted gameplay from now until the evening of April 7, 2024, and a match duration of 10 minutes plus a 2-minute turnaround, you could theoretically participate in up to 8,910 deathmatches if matches consistently reach the 10-minute time limit. However, this number is a conservative estimate given that many matches may end quicker if a team reaches the kill count goal before time expires.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, is a first-person shooter game that is part of the popular Call of Duty franchise. Released in 2012 for multiple platforms including the Nintendo Wii U, Black Ops 2 received acclaim for its engaging storyline, dynamic gameplay, and the introduction of branching storylines influenced by player choice. Although attention has largely shifted to more recent titles in the series, a dedicated fan base still enjoys this installment on legacy consoles like the Wii U.
