Xbox Dominates Gamescom 2024 as Sony and Nintendo Bail

Microsoft is gearing up for a significant presence at Gamescom 2024, marking its return to the event with its largest booth ever. Running from August 21-25, the showcase will feature major titles such as Obsidian’s Avowed, Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, and World of Warcraft: The War Within, among others. This marks the first Gamescom since Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Meanwhile, Sony and Nintendo have opted out of the event, making Microsoft's attendance a standout. Microsoft will also unveil new upgrades for the Xbox Series X and S, including an all-digital Series X to be available this holiday season. Despite internal challenges and layoffs, Xbox head Phil Spencer remains focused on growth and sustainability within the company.
