In recent news, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has assured fans that they can expect more Japanese exclusives for the platform in the future. Historically, big-name Japanese developers have been more affiliated with PlayStation due to its older status and production by a Japanese corporation. Nevertheless, Spencer has promised that they are actively collaborating with Japanese teams to bring more Xbox-exclusive titles. He pointed to the recent release of Hi-Fi Rush as an example of a game developed by a Japanese team under the Xbox franchise. Speaking in an interview with Game Watch, Spencer confirmed the plans to publish big-budget Japanese games akin to the Xbox 360’s fan favorites, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey. He also confirmed the growth of the development environment involving both first and third party, thus strengthening prospects for more Japanese contributions. Additionally, development teams from Xbox Game Studios have revealed they have "over a dozen" games currently in progress. While specifics were not provided, it's speculated that a mysterious new game from Hideo Kojima is part of this lineup. Spencer shared his intention to visit Kojima to discuss the project, emphasizing Kojima’s innovative approach and the need for it to develop organically, away from public scrutiny.
